Face Data & Avatar Generation

Our App includes an optional AI avatar generation feature that uses front-facing camera photos ("selfies"). By using this feature, you consent to the collection and processing of your selfie as described below.

What We Collect

When you choose to use the avatar generation feature, we capture a front-facing camera photo (selfie) that you voluntarily provide. We use Apple's Vision framework to perform on-device face detection solely to help you position your face within the camera frame. This on-device face detection data (such as bounding box coordinates) is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party. We do not collect facial geometry, biometric identifiers, or face mesh data.

How We Use Your Selfie

Your selfie photo is used exclusively as a visual reference to generate stylized AI avatar images. The selfie is uploaded to our cloud storage provider (Convex) and transmitted via a temporary, time-limited URL to our AI image generation provider (fal.ai) for the sole purpose of creating your personalized avatar.

Third-Party Sharing

Your selfie is shared only with fal.ai for avatar generation. No other third parties receive your selfie or face data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your face data. fal.ai processes the image solely to generate your avatar and does not retain your selfie after processing is complete.

Storage & Retention

Your selfie is stored in our cloud infrastructure (Convex) and is retained until you (a) upload a new selfie, which replaces the previous one, (b) delete your avatar, or (c) delete your account, at which point the selfie and all associated data are permanently removed. Generated avatar images are retained in your account until you delete them or delete your account.

Your Choices

The avatar generation feature is entirely optional. You may use the App without providing a selfie. You may update or delete your selfie at any time through the Avatar Studio in the App.
